Stars of “So You Think You Can Dance”

March 24th, 2010

So there’s this show… I think it’s about people who think they can dance?

SYTYCD is an AMAZING show, a massively-powerful force for good in the dance industry.  Not only does it  promote young dancers it showcases and celebrates SO many different styles of dance, giving cutting-edge choreography and creativity a forum for nation-wide appreciation.  Especially it is a chance for the public to see and respect Hip hop dance as the complex art form that it is!

We were thrilled to have recent stars of SYTYCD on the B-GIRL Red Carpet – Ellenore, Kathryn and B-GIRL star b-boy Legacy!

Keep watching the show, our two favorite choreographers/fashion designers and friends Napoleon & Tabitha D’uomo are on almost every week, raising the bar with creative and lyrical Hip hop choreography!

Yes that’s me in the cheesy awards video ;)

Forgive me the “Envelope Please” lame-itude but it’s awards season in LA.  It’s like our Mardi Gras or Super Bowl, it’s like being in New York for New Years or Wisconsin for Cheese  season (which I imagine is awesome).  There’s podiums and statues and red carpets in the air.  It’s infectious.  Or maybe that’s just that flu that’s been going around…

For real, for those of you not in the film industry, it is a crazy time right now.  There’s energy in the city, they shut down Hollywood Blvd for a solid week and so many stars are in town that you run into Brad, Angelina and Meryl at starbucks.  Together.  (For real, anyone interested in celebrity-related tourism, NOW is the time to be in LA).

So forgive me for getting caught-up in the madness, but I’m also just SO PROUD of BGirl Thresh (Jenn Thresher) and ALL of the amazing b-girls who sent in their videos for the B-GIRL online Sweepstakes.  It made me smile huge to see these bad-ass bgirls show their stuff, to jump into the online circle and show off their skills.  It’s not easy to put yourself out there like that, and I especially loved how Jenn said the competition gave her inspiration to practice harder and the videos made her a better b-girl.  You put things out there in the world and you don’t if people will like them… It just makes me so happy… [sob]… I have to thank my agent [sob] and everyone who made this possible, and my lawyer, and all the people who still buy movies and don’t illegally download them… and the Key Grip.  No one EVER thanks the Key Grip.  Thanks man!

Okay, sorry again :) Jenn, you rock!

Much stars-in-the-eyes Love,
x Emily D.

Thank you Keila!

I was just sent a photo that made me smile all the way down to my toes, melted my innards into gooey-gooshy-squishiness… Man that sounds so gross.  But for real, this kind of made my month:
Keila in Wal-Mart
It’s not just the INSANE HONOR of being alongside MJ (the reason half my friends & BGIRL cast became dancers) but it’s also just…. she looks so happy!!  My movie made this adorable little girl happy.
Okay, maybe I can only take credit for 50% of the happiness because rightfully MJ gets the other 50 (maybe 65) but I’m cool with that.  That is totally fair to me.  I will gladly accept 50% of happy-credit.  Heck I’ll take 32%.  14%.  0.00039%.  If I have contributed to the global total of happy in even the most tiniest amount…. well, that’s the ballgame folks.  It’s the show, the sum-total, it’s what we came here for.
Thanks Keila, you gave me the best gift.

Much Love
(Yes, the gooshy-smooshy-gross stuff)
