The SESSIONS DVD

August 31st, 2010

It wasn’t enough to make the movie…. No…
We over at B-GIRL HQ had a predicament on our hands — “What do we do with all the amazing dance footage and extras we couldn’t put in the movie?”

“Donate to Katrina relief!” one suggested.  Okay…
“Make a pretty hat!” someone else offered.

I like your energy, but…

We decided to cook-up something unique for the inner-circle –  the kids, the newbies and the die-hards.
It’s The Sessions DVD.

Sessions DVD Pak Shot
Insights, instructions and extra bonus features not in the film – whether you’re trying to learn history and fundamentals, or want to see how dance is made into a Hollywood movie, or watch a world-championship battle.   Over an HOUR all BRAND-NEW.

The highlight are the Cypher Sessions – concentrated, back-to-back moves from the b-boy stars including FleaRock, Steelo, Legacy, Remedy, Flipz and more.  Want to learn breaking from the best?  Now’s your chance!

The Dance of B-GIRL tells how we choreographed, rehearsed and filmed it all – b-boy battles to free-running to salsa and lyrical hip hop.  This brand new documentary has new interviews from the Beat Freaks and more, plus never-before-seen footage from the rehearsals and the set.

In Road to the Champions – watch our cast (Flipz, Flea, Beastmode, Venum and more) travel to London to win UK B-BOY CHAMPIONS 2009.  Watch their training, focus and skill in the circle.  Don’t miss battle footage vs Jinjo from Korea and Top 9 from Russia!

Thank you Keila!

I was just sent a photo that made me smile all the way down to my toes, melted my innards into gooey-gooshy-squishiness… Man that sounds so gross.  But for real, this kind of made my month:
Keila in Wal-Mart
It’s not just the INSANE HONOR of being alongside MJ (the reason half my friends & BGIRL cast became dancers) but it’s also just…. she looks so happy!!  My movie made this adorable little girl happy.
Okay, maybe I can only take credit for 50% of the happiness because rightfully MJ gets the other 50 (maybe 65) but I’m cool with that.  That is totally fair to me.  I will gladly accept 50% of happy-credit.  Heck I’ll take 32%.  14%.  0.00039%.  If I have contributed to the global total of happy in even the most tiniest amount…. well, that’s the ballgame folks.  It’s the show, the sum-total, it’s what we came here for.
Thanks Keila, you gave me the best gift.

Much Love
(Yes, the gooshy-smooshy-gross stuff)

12K in UK and she’s still goin’…

B-Girl DVD UK

The B-GIRL DVD has crossed the 12,000 mark in the United Kingdom!  Yes, we’ve sold over 12,000 copies in our first 4 weeks!

Awwww…. Look at the DVD, isn’t she preety?  They say it’s been flying off the shelves – send me pictures please! – and it’s all thanks to the amazing team in the UK who know how to do the damn thing.

Where you at USA?  You going to let big ol’ England play you like that?  Represent!
I’m just playing, America… I know you can’t really compete cuz the drop date’s not til January.  Why does England always get everything first?  It’s SO unfair, I say we 1776-it all over again, tea party in Boston!  Remember the Alamo!!

Let me tell you, personally this is seriously crazy-awesome.  We’ve never had 12,000 copies of our work sell to people We don’t even know.  For real, my sister and I and Jules were putting our heads together and we figured maybe we know 3 of those people.  Maybe 4.  The other … wait I’m doing the math… 11,996 of them are awesome folks who just love breaking, love dance and want to see the movie!  I can’t even tell you how much this means to us struggling filmmakers.  We work through exhaustion and frustration and late-night shouting matches (we’re family y’all – it happens) but all any of us want is to create something that makes people happy.  Oh, and there I go getting all cheezy again.  Can I get a kleenex please?

So much gratitude and love to all you 11,996, and all you who will join that crew – and ’specially to my sister Elizabeth,

Emily D.
