Takin’ it to the streets wasn’t enough, oh no… in the next chapter of the Step Up go see B-GIRL stars Flipz, Legacy, Remedy, Beastmode, Milky, Venum, and more step OUT of the screen in full beautiful 3D!
The movie opens nationwide FRIDAY AUG. 6th, check it out!
AND… If the Disney Big-time is too ‘mainstream’, you find yourself drawn to things more complicated, more innovative, and darker…. then you are missing it if you’re not already following the LXD.
It’s an online-series that is breaking new ground with creative storylines, wild super-human dance moves and choreography that will blow your mind! Seriously, its an amazing time to be in dance.
I’m very lucky to be part of this world and to have these talented people as friends!
I already bought my movie tickets… did you??
3D-Goggle love,
x Emily D.
Congratulations Jenn!
Yes that’s me in the cheesy awards video
Forgive me the “Envelope Please” lame-itude but it’s awards season in LA. It’s like our Mardi Gras or Super Bowl, it’s like being in New York for New Years or Wisconsin for Cheese season (which I imagine is awesome). There’s podiums and statues and red carpets in the air. It’s infectious. Or maybe that’s just that flu that’s been going around…
For real, for those of you not in the film industry, it is a crazy time right now. There’s energy in the city, they shut down Hollywood Blvd for a solid week and so many stars are in town that you run into Brad, Angelina and Meryl at starbucks. Together. (For real, anyone interested in celebrity-related tourism, NOW is the time to be in LA).
So forgive me for getting caught-up in the madness, but I’m also just SO PROUD of BGirl Thresh (Jenn Thresher) and ALL of the amazing b-girls who sent in their videos for the B-GIRL online Sweepstakes. It made me smile huge to see these bad-ass bgirls show their stuff, to jump into the online circle and show off their skills. It’s not easy to put yourself out there like that, and I especially loved how Jenn said the competition gave her inspiration to practice harder and the videos made her a better b-girl. You put things out there in the world and you don’t if people will like them… It just makes me so happy… [sob]… I have to thank my agent [sob] and everyone who made this possible, and my lawyer, and all the people who still buy movies and don’t illegally download them… and the Key Grip. No one EVER thanks the Key Grip. Thanks man!
Okay, sorry again
Jenn, you rock!
Much stars-in-the-eyes Love,
x Emily D.
Outbreak 5 – GREAT Jam!
mmmmm….. Jam……
Haha just kidding, folks! But I wanted to write a quick note to say how amazing and fun Outbreak 5 was, major quantities of love to Mex One for throwing one of the best break events I’ve ever been to! The skills in the room were in-sane… serious competitors and mutual respect for all. A highlight was the Roxrite-Focus battle, 12 rounds oh my GAWD!
Jules judged the b-girl battle, won by B-Girl Nayumi from Japan. Let me tell you, this b-girl came to win it. She even made ME scared! But we love nothing more than the b-girls (and all girls) who aren’t afraid to dive in and wrestle with the big boys. Way to go woman!

But what really meant the most to me, my sister and Jules was the energy in the room – so positive, everyone having a great time. There were b-boy legends in the room (Alien Ness, Cros1, Speedy from NYC Breakers) little baby b-boys as well as Japanese killer b-boys and b-girls, Germans, Israelis, and more. That kind of positivity and support ONLY comes from the example set by the people at the top, so again major thanks to Mex and the Unique Styles Crew for all the hard work that really paid off.
Now headed to the Reign BBQ and then to our SCREENING!! We have a bunch of our cast coming to do Q&A tonight (Represent FLA!!) so I’m soooo excited, will post all about it tomorrow!
Major love (& a bit nervous!) in Florida,
Xo Emily
The Newz from Hot-lanta – Bgirl Legend in the House!
It started on a midnight plane to Georgia – our first stop on the official B-GIRL US Tour – Atlanta!
The highlight of the weekend was definitely the Q&A after our screening – some b-girl royalty made an appearance… B-girl Baby Love, from the Original 1980 Rock Steady Crew, famous from Beat Street, lives nearby and it was such an honor to have her speak about b-girling over time and have her blessing on the film.
Bad-ass local b-girls Vendetta and Severe from Burn Unit ATL joined us as well and we had a great time.
The screening was at Atlanta’s historic Plaza Theater:

I gotta admit, as a filmmaker I am sooooo geeked-out honored to be alongside the Exorcist!
The energy at the Q&A was so positive, people kept asking more and more questions that they had to kick us out of the theater, then out of the hallway, finally out of the building! Sorry, Plaza Theater, the B-GIRL peeps just got a little ‘xcited, thas all.
And then the next day was the BATTLE, where Severe served an Atlanta-home-cooked defeat to b-girl Mystify from Chicago. Both ladies rocked it, but it was clear Severe came to win. The surprise highlight was a lesson in true style from Baby Love, herself! Check it out:
Thank you everyone who came out and who made us feel so welcomed. We love you Atlanta!
Next week we’re in Orlando, Land of Disney. Walt, please bless my endeavors.
Major cross-country love,
X, Emily
